Ayub Khawar is an equally famous personality among the people related to all fields of life.
Well known for his unique and creative style whether we are talking about his poetry or his extensive work on the television. Ayub Khawar was born on 12 October 1948 in Chakwal (Punjab). He did his MA in Urdu literature from Karachi University in 1974/5 and joined PTV as a trainee producer in 1975/6. Ayub Khawar worked for PTV as producer/director and playwright from 1981 to 2005 in Lahore Centre. During 30 years of his TV life, he produced literary programs, grand music shows and quality drama serials for his viewers. When the first P.T.V National Awards were launched, Ayub Khawar was the first ever producer to be nominated for his literary programs, “MAHNAMA” and “DANISHKADA”. Through these programs Ayub Khawar had also introduced many upcoming poets in early 80s. In the world of drama, it was Khawar who introduced the talented writer and columnist Asghar Nadeem Syed as a playwright, who wrote a Punjabi drama “SIFARISH” for PTV. Similarly he introduced the unique columnist Ata-ul-haq Qasimi as a playwright for television. He wrote three famous drama serials consecutively entitled “APNAY PARAI”, “ALI BABA CHALIS CHOR” and “KHAWAJA AND SON” for TV. As a poet, he has launched three poetic collections, first was, “GUL-E-MAUSAM-E-KHIZAN” published in 1992. Second was published in 2000 entitled “TUMHAIN JANAY KI JALDI THI”. The third came out in 2009 titled “BOHAT KUCH KHO GAYA HAI”. Another edition of both first two books were publicised in 2010. As a poet, the style and subject that Khawar ensnare the masters and critics of literature and poetry not only in his home land but far beyond its borders as well. Ayub Khawar’s fourth book of poetry, “MOHABBAT KI KITAB”, which is published in 2012. This book is a kind of visual drama told in unique poetic manners. It’s a love story which starts from one Valentine day and dies in the hands of terrorism on an other Valentine day. Ayub Khawar is one of those writers/directors who has been invited to colleges and universities in Lahore and Karachi for honorary lectures in mass communication. .
