Born in Zambia to Muslim expatriate parents from India, Farzan Doctor is a Toronto-based author and psychotherapist. Belonging to a Dawoodi Bohra (a Shiite sect) family, her parents immigrated to Canada when she was six months old. Now in her Forties she has written three novel: Stealing Nasreen, Six Metres of Pavement(which won a Lambda Literary Award in 2012 and was short-listed for the Toronto Book Award) and the recently released All Inclusive. She has been listed as one of CBC Books’ Ten Canadian Women Writers You Need to Read Now and is the recipient of the Writers’ Trust of Canada’s Dayne Ogilvie Grant.
